To cultivate a culture of inquiry, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing by disseminating research findings that offer actionable insights, over 100 participants and presenters attended the SDO-Tacloban City Research and Innovation Forum: Advancing Knowledge for Education Al Excellence on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2025, at Hotel Cresencia, Leyte Normal University, Tacloban City.
Dr. Jade B. Calleja, Division Research Coordinator of SDO-Tacloban underscored the importance of translating research into actionable strategies within schools.
In his welcome message, he stated, “The purpose of conducting presentations is to inform the teachers and others who have interest on the studies of the results to be utilized in schools, to take actions right away and give proper interventions, ” said Dr. Calleja.
This initiative reflects the division’s commitment to fostering a responsive and evidence-based educational environment, where data-driven insights directly inform classroom practices and policy decisions.
Dr. Jovito B. Madeja, Dean, School of Education at Eastern Visayas State University and a recognized research expert, served as the keynote resource person during the Forum.
In his talk, he focused on the topic , Artificial Intelligence + Action Research: The New Equation for Data-Driven School Leadership.
Dr. Madeja emphasized the transformative potential of integrating AI into educational leadership. “By combining artificial intelligence with action research, we empower school leaders to make informed, timely, and strategic decisions that directly impact learner outcomes,” he stated.
According to him, crafting clear, specific, and well-thought-out prompts is essential to obtaining accurate and relevant information from AI systems.
He urged participants to approach AI not as a shortcut, but as a partner in inquiry - one that requires ethical consideration, critical thinking, and a commitment to integrity in both input and output.
The forum showcased the academic rigor and creativity of 22 researchers and 13 innovators.
They were given five (5) minutes to present their completed studies and innovations, highlighting practical solutions and forward-thinking strategies for educational improvement.
The event concluded in the awarding of certificates of recognition and participation, honoring the participants’ valuable contributions to the advancement of research and innovation in the Tacloban City Division.
